On top of that, Jake is a journeyman electrician, a pretend carpenter, amateur plumber, occasional house painter, stubborn do-it-yourselfer, wannabe-photographer/filmmaker, non-recipe following chef, and professional procrastinator. But music is the constant driving force in his life. He grew up on a steady diet of Guy Clark, Waylon Jennings (whom he is named after), Tom Russel, Todd Snider, John Prine, Billy Joe Shaver and other similar troubadours. Jake’s music can be categorized similarly to the above artists. 

          “I feel like my music is American roots music all lumped together with a little of this and a little of that, that's why I’ve always leant towards calling it Americana, which to me is just an amalgamation of country, folk, and rock and roll with a little bluegrass sprinkled in.” - Jake Waylon 

    During the past decade or so of playing shows and honing his craft, Jake Waylon has had the pleasure of playing on many historic stages around central Texas. The most memorable being Nutty Brown, Hill’s Cafe, Saxon Pub, and Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe.
